Policies & Conditions (These are our booking terms and conditions.)
Payment Policy
To reserve a spot on a specified course, camp or retreat, a non-refundable booking fee of 30% is required upon booking. After a confirmation has been emailed to you OR a The Art Of Surfing representative calls you to confirm your reservation, a courtesy hold requires payment within 3 working days to secure the reservation. Full payment (the balance) must be made within 30 days of the course, camp or retreat start date. Prices are based per person, shared accommodation (share with another camp guest or guests) or for private rooms where specified but DO NOT include flights. Clients must have adequate travel insurance to cover all activities listed.
Travel Insurance
Please note, even if you have private health insurance in New Zealand or your respective Country of residence, it is unlikely that this insurance will cover overseas trips such as some of the camps offered by The Art Of Surfing. It is your responsibility to organize suitable travel and health insurance. Although we strongly encourage you to do so, you acknowledge that The Art Of Surfing is not in the business of providing insurance products and cannot be held liable if your failure to arrange suitable insurance coverage leaves you exposed, medically, financially or otherwise.
The Art Of Surfing Cancellations Definitions
“Cancellation” is defined as not attending your scheduled course, camp or retreat, including postponing or rescheduling. “You” refers to the guest booking a The Art Of Surfing Camp. “We” refers to The Art Of Surfing. It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policy before making a reservation. Naturally, no one books with the intention of cancelling or postponing their course, camp or retreat, but unexpected things do happen, so please consider purchasing travel cancellation insurance.
Guest Cancellation Policy
Depending on when you cancel, cancellation fees may apply. Fees are determined by the following schedule (“the Cancellation fee schedule”):
- If you cancel 31 days or more before your course, camp or retreat start date, you will be refunded the full camp amount (minus a 30% booking fee)
- If you cancel 30 days or less before your course, camp or retreat start date, you will forfeit your entire payment.
Due to our need to commit to accommodation and other arrangements in advance, exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason.
A guest can change to another camp 31 days or more before your course, camp or retreat start date subject to availability or request a credit note. Please note the course, camp or retreat must be advertised at the time of the request.
We do not offer credit for arriving late or leaving early.
The Art Of Surfing Cancellation Policy
If The Art Of Surfing has to cancel a course, camp or retreat due to reasons outside of their control such as government-issued requirements (i.e covid level announcements), natural disasters, pandemics etc then the cancellation policy fees are determined by the following schedule ("Taos Cancellation fee schedule")
- If the course, camp or retreat is cancelled 31 days or more before your camp start date, you will be refunded the full camp amount (minus a 30% booking fee)
- If the course, camp or retreat is cancelled 30 days or less before your camp start date, there will be no refund
The Art Of Surfing is not responsible for any loss of expenses, you may incur due to the ("Taos Cancellation fee schedule"). If applicable you will need to consult the insurance company that you purchased your travel cancellation policy through for any possible reimbursement you may be entitled to.
If The Art Of Surfing must cancel or change a scheduled course, camp or retreat date for any other reason whatsoever, you’re entitled to transfer your full camp payment to another camp (either scheduled or at some future time). Alternatively, you may request a refund of your applicable payment, which will be accommodated for insofar as is possible, taking into consideration any non-retrievable costs to which we committed in anticipation of your course, camp or retreat.
The Art Of Surfing is not responsible for your expenses incurred in preparation for any cancelled retreat such as other accommodation, airline tickets, loss of work, and/or other costs associated with preparing for your trip.
Travel Cancellation Insurance
Depending on the policy and conditions, travel cancellation insurance may pay for some or all cancellation fees. Strictly for informational purposes and not to be relied upon, with most agencies, this type of insurance must be purchased within 14 days of making your reservation to optimize your level of protection.
Passports, Visas and Documents
It is the responsibility of each participant to obtain a valid passport, visa(s) and necessary certificates for any country to be visited in connection with The Art Of Surfing Camp.
Third Parties
The Art Of Surfing holds no responsibility for the actions or omissions of third parties or independent contractors, including in the event that they modify the nature of a service on a camp as compared with the advertised nature of the service.
General Waiver
You acknowledge that during a camp you participate voluntarily in any and all activities arranged by the camp organizers, and insofar as legally permissible, surrender your right to any cause of action against The Art Of Surfing arising from any loss or damage to person or property that occurs during a camp.
Photo / Video Release Form
I hereby grant to The Art Of Surfing the absolute and irrevocable right and unrestricted permission to use photographic portraits/images/videos in which I feature that are taken during the retreat to use/republish/copyright, etc. for commercial use in association with The Art Of Surfing business. I hereby release and discharge The Art Of Surfing from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of the photographs and video footage, including without limitation any and all claims for libel or invasion of privacy.
